Job Description

Position Summary:

Under supervision, the Accountant performs moderately complex accounting activities relating to the maintenance of ledger accounts and contributes to the development of associated managerial reports and financial statements. Position may specialize in various accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, billing, consolidations, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

Relying on limited experience and knowledge, the Accountant is responsible for accomplishing the following assignments. These assignments are varied in nature.

• Compile financial information and prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts; document business transactions; and reconcile and close Company accounts on a monthly basis.
• Perform general ledger duties to assist with monthly activity and closings.
• Perform monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts to general ledger balances.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for specified accounts and may analyze daily bank account activity.
• Analyze and document variances in account balances between periods.
• Prepare various schedules required for internal and external reporting, both on a GAAP basis and as required by Statutory Accounting Principles.
• Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual filings.
• Assist with special projects as needed.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or a related field or the equivalent education and/or experience
• Work towards CPA designation preferred

• Minimum of two years of relevant and progressive professional experience in accounting and/or finance
• Understanding of GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles

• Possess and have ability to apply knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures
• Solid written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
• Advanced organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Knowledgeable of industry changes, legal updates and technical developments related to applicable area of the Company’s business to proactively respond to changing business environment
• Intermediate proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office Package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)
