Job Description

ProAg, a member of the Tokio Marine HCC group of companies, has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Actuary Supervisor in it's Maple Grove, MN office. 
This position is responsible for assisting the various underwriting and analytical functions of TMHCC’s Agriculture business unit, ProAg. The incumbent performs a variety of complicated tasks that require in-depth knowledge and experience in stochastic modeling, statistical methods, and risk analysis.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads the actuarial functions of the Agriculture business unit, including establishing pricing methodologies, basic premium structure, and experience rating formulas for private products.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the actuarial function interacts effectively with all other parts of the business unit including underwriting, reinsurance, finance, and IT.
  • Provide financial input regarding pricing, loss ratios, and expenses in connection with budget projections for future operating periods.
  • Liaises between TMHCC’s corporate actuarial team and business unit underwriting and reinsurance functions to:
    • Maximize the value of corporately-provided decision support
    • Increase/aid the Agriculture-specific business knowledge within TMHCC’s corporate actuarial group.

Job Requirements

Position Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Actuarial Science or a related field or the equivalent education and/or experience
  • Near Associate (ACAS) or newly designated as a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS), Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries (FIA) or similar


  • A minimum of four years of actuarial work experience
  • Proven, relevant and progressive experience in property/casualty insurance industry


  • Possess and have ability to apply advanced knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Superior organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Advanced proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office Package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Programming aptitude
