Job Description

Summary:

Travel Agents are responsible for the successful completion of travel arrangements within company and client guidelines.

Agents will work closely with the Global Response Center team to create domestic and international travel arrangements including air, hotel and ground transportation; stay informed of current travel requirements; support multiple accounts; adhere to company standards in delivering customer service; provide support for internal technical issues; utilize company preferred providers to maximize efficiency and ensure compliance with travel policy.    

Responsibilities:

  • Book domestic and international travel, including air, hotel, rail and ground transportation within Sabre GDS
  • Interact with the Global Response Center and travel arrangers by providing first level support for customer service and resolution of travel problems.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude, professionalism in all contacts and support for the Company’s vision and mission.
  • Stay abreast of company and departmental policies and procedures through staff meetings, department and/or company communications and on-going training.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, varied start times, evenings and weekends.
  • Perform additional related responsibilities as requested, including investigation of cases with subsequent written summaries.

Job Requirements

Position Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or a related field or the equivalent education and/or experience

Experience

  • Minimum of five years of relevant and progressive professional experience

  • Two years of recent travel experience 

Other

  • Sabre GDS system proficiency strongly preferred
  • Ability to research various means of travel and create multi-segment, multi-destination international and domestic itineraries to include air, rail, hotel and ground transportation.
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of complex international pricing rules and regulations
  • Coordinate the use of bonus miles and other travel related rewards for corporate use
  • Proficiency in a minimum of one computer reservation system
  • Excellent knowledge of domestic and international geography, routings, fare construction and documentation
  • Proven ability to follow directions and complete assigned tasks
  • Confidence in ability to function in a team environment and develop strong relationships among colleagues
  • Proven ability to multi task and work well under pressure while maintaining a professional demeanor
  • Professional communication skills - both verbal and written
  • Proven problem solving, time management, and organizational skills
  • Moderate to high level of computer proficiency
  • Proven ability to be flexible in scheduling
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt teaching in a positive manner
  • Intermediate proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office Package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)
