Job Description

Tokio Marine HCC – Medical Insurance Services (MIS) Group, a member of the Tokio Marine Group of Companies, is a recognized leader in international Accident & Health insurance, offering coverage to customers in more than 130 countries.

We have an exciting opportunity for a temporary Customer Assistant in the Indianapolis, IN office. This is a temporary position: 3-4 months.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review online insurance applications for applicant eligibility; approve eligible applications and send correspondence until resolution is found for all ineligible or problem applications.
  • Receive, review, and process all insurance applications.
  • Correspond with producer and/or applicant regarding applications with missing or illegible information; maintain follow-up communication until application has been approved or has expired.
  • Recognize and honor special processing and fulfillment arrangements for top producers.
  • Receive and review insurance cancellation requests and handle related correspondence with producer and/or applicant. Approve cancellation requests received prior to policy effective date and submit all other cancellation requests to Underwriting Manager for approval.
  • Alter eligibility data in system and charge additional premium as necessary for Certificate changes and/or cancellations.
  • Service producers, policyholders, and applicants with regard to processing/eligibility issues for each of the short term insurance plans.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate and current Plan of Benefits.
  • Assist with maintenance of procedural documents respective to this position.
  • Other Duties as assigned, including back-up for other positions during absences and/or heavy volumes.  

Job Requirements

Position Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements:


  • High school diploma or equivalent 


  • Minimum of two years of relevant and progressive experience in area of specialization


  • Possess and have ability to apply basic knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
  • Good organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Intermediate proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office Package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)
