Tokio Marine HCC – MIS Group has an exciting opportunity for a Division Controller in our office located in Indianapolis, IN.

Having a travel insurance background will be integral to your success in this role.

In your role as the Division Controller, you will be responsible for managing the daily functions of the Accounting department including planning, prioritizing, directing the work flow, and interfacing with senior management and corporate department managers. You must have a good understanding of operational transactions.

During the first 6-12 months on the job you can expect to:

  • Manage and directly support the monthly financial close, including reporting to management actual results versus the budget, preparing the monthly executive summary for management to review, and performing analysis and preparing schedules to support the quarterly review process.
  • Work with the management team to understand the business and the markets we serve.  This is essential in order to lead the annual budgeting process as well as reforecasts performed regularly during the year.
  • Review existing controls in place and determine if additional controls or processes are needed to ensure or improve the quality and timeliness of financial reporting.

The Division Controller will spend the majority of the time leading the accounting and finance team.  As a forward-looking organization you should focus on optimizing the closing processes so that ~ 50% of their time can be spent on forward looking business initiatives to grow and improve profitability of the business.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate MUST have the following qualifications:

  • Travel Insurance Background
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or the equivalent education and/or experience
  • Minimum of six years of leadership experience
  • Minimum of two years auditing experience
  • Minimum of two years of insurance industry experience


  • Preferred qualifications:
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
  • Public Accounting experience
  • Minimum of ten years of relevant and progressive experience in area of specialization
  • Foreign currency experience
