Job Description

Tokio Marine HCC - Surety Group, a member of the Tokio Marine HCC group of companies has an exciting opportunity for an Financial Analyst at our Los Angeles, CA location. Under supervision, responsible for analyzing and presenting data to provide executive level support to CEO and Senior Level Management. Manages special projects for various departments within the business. 

Key Responsibilities:

Relying on limited experience and knowledge, the Operations Analyst is responsible for accomplishing the following assignments. These assignments are varied in nature.

• Collect and analyze data to evaluate operational difficulties and make recommendations to solve problems and meet strategic objectives.
• Bank and ILOC Monitoring – Prepare analysis of Irrevocable Letters of Credit (ILOCs) for monitoring.
• Assist the CEO and Senior Directors, as directed on presentations, data analysis, training, underwriting, and other special projects as assigned.
• Coordinate annual reinsurance presentation with internal and external resources and biennial leadership event(s)
• Support SBA reinsurance program

• Follow work plans, established timelines, and pre-defined goals for assigned work.
• Meet commitments on deadlines.

• Communicate activities, results, and observations with employees and management as appropriate.

Cost Management
• Identify areas for improvement in existing business practices.
• Perform work thoroughly in a cost efficient manner and at a high productivity level.

Business Controls and Policies
• Comply with all corporate policies and procedures.
• Report any breakdowns in controls to management.
• Conduct all activities in a safe manner.

People Management
• No people management responsibility.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Business or Finance or a related field or the equivalent education and/or experience

• Minimum of two years of relevant and progressive professional experience

• Possess and have ability to apply knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures for determination of operational improvements.
• Ability to understand and apply accounting concepts and internal policies and procedures to solve a variety of fairly complex problems
• Ability to synthesize and present findings to senior management and peers in written and oral reports
• Exceptional organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Knowledgeable of industry changes, legal updates and technical developments related to applicable area of the Company’s business to proactively respond to changing business environment
• Intermediate proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office Package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
• Overtime hours may be required to fulfill job responsibilities
• May require travel outside normal work location
• May require a valid driver’s license
• May be required to stoop, bend, or sit for extended periods of time
• May be required to lift up to 10 pounds
• Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other devices
• Close vision and ability to adjust focus; required to read a computer screen
