Job Description

Tokio Marine HCC - Surety Group, a member of the Tokio Marine HCC group of companies has an exciting opportunity for an Intern in our Underwriting department of the Sacramento, CA branch. Under immediate supervision, relying on standardized instructions and pre-established guidelines, the Intern is responsible for providing support for the various and routine tasks associated with daily activities of the Sacramento Surety Branch Office.
Key Responsibilities:

Relying on standardized instructions and pre-established guidelines, the Intern is responsible for accomplishing the following as guided by others. These assignments are routine in nature.

  • Assist branch underwriters in creating & maintaining underwriting files for new & existing Principals. File set-up to include an introduction to preliminary credit and financial analysis.
  • Routine data entry or verification of departmental information on company’s proprietary software & database.
  • Perform other general clerical duties such as copying, filing, faxing, scanning, and operating departmental office equipment.
  • Follow work plans, established timelines, and pre-defined goals for assigned work (file set-up and bond execution.
  • Meet commitments on deadlines.
  • Perform work thoroughly in a cost-efficient manner and at a high productivity level.
  • Utilize company resources effectively.
  • Comply with all corporate policies and procedures.
  • Take all reasonable steps to safeguard company assets against waste, loss, unauthorized use, and misappropriation.
  • Report breakdown in controls to a supervisor or manager.

Job Requirements

Position Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements:

• 60 completed general college hours with a 3.0 GPA.
• Preferably studying Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management or related field.

• No experience required.

• Possess and have ability to apply basic knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures
• Good written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
• Good organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office Package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)
