Job Description

Position Summary:

Under supervision, the Investment Accountant performs accounting activities relating to Company investments, including bonds, stocks and derivatives, and the development of associated managerial reports and financial statements.

Key Responsibilities:

Relying on limited experience and knowledge, the Investment Accountant is responsible for accomplishing the following assignments. These assignments are varied in nature.

  • Compile and analyze financial information related to the Company’s investments in order to prepare entries and document transactions.
  • May perform general ledger duties to assist with monthly activity and closing.
  • Analyze and prepare basic monthly balance sheet reconciliations and prepare monthly reconciliation of long-term investments reports from outside vendor.
  • Review past due income items.
  • Prepare and review monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Proactively detect, research, and resolve reconciliation items.
  • Analyze and document variances in account balances between periods.
  • Prepare various schedules required for quarterly and annual GAAP statutory reporting.
  • Assist in providing data requested by external auditors.


Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or a related field or the equivalent education and/or experience
• CPA preferred

• Minimum of two years of relevant and progressive professional experience in accounting and/or finance
• Possess and have ability to apply knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures
• Solid written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
• Advanced organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Knowledgeable of industry changes, legal updates and technical developments related to applicable area of the Company’s business to proactively respond to changing business environment
• Intermediate proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office Package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)
