We have an exciting opportunity for an IT Auditor in our Corporate Headquarters located in Houston, TX

Position Summary: 

Under supervision, performs information technology audits that add value and improve the Company’s operations. Evaluates and improves the information technology infrastructure using a systematic, disciplined approach for risk management effectiveness and for control and governance processes. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Relying on limited experience and knowledge, the IT Auditor is responsible for accomplishing the following assignments.  These assignments are varied in nature. 

  • Perform various aspects of a full IT Audit, as assigned, with managerial and senior guidance. Essential elements of an IT Audit will include audit planning, walkthroughs, audit program development, risk and control identification, testing, status reporting, decision-making, and time/budget management.
  • Plan, organize, and perform various audit testing related to IT General Controls, automated business application controls, IT infrastructure reviews, IT security reviews, IT Governance, and integrated business audits.
  • Participate in system implementation projects with the goal of working with the customer on risk identification, life cycle compliance, and controls development.
  • Develop accurate, meaningful, and complete audit work papers that adequately support the audit findings and the risk identified in the audit planning process.
  • Develop issues and improvement opportunities based on audit conclusions and risk for inclusion in the audit report.
  • Assist with preparation of the draft audit report to departmental and client management for review and discussion.
  • Suggest recommendations on ways to improve audit work processes.

Job Requirements

Position Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements: 


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, a related field, or the equivalent education and/or experience
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) designation preferred


  • Minimum of two years of relevant and progressive professional IT Audit experience in public accounting, internal audit or related field
  • Insurance or Financial Services experience preferred
  • Experience working with audit management system software, particularly TeamMate and data analysis software is a plus


  • Working knowledge of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, internal auditing standards and Control Objectives for Information and Related Technologies (COBIT)
  • Possess and have ability to apply knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
  • Advanced organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledgeable of industry changes, legal updates, and technical developments related to applicable area of the Company’s business to proactively respond to changing business environment
  • Intermediate proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Overtime hours may be required to fulfill job responsibilities
  • May require travel outside normal work location
