Overview:     

The Learning and Development Manager will be leading a supporting team and will collaboratively create programs from concept to implementation that include blended learning solutions, including classroom & virtual instruction and eLearning modules, along with marketing communications and ongoing sustainment and refreshing of these programs.  You will create value for all tiers of the organization with strategic leadership programs, technical and functional onboarding for specialty lines, and build out of our professional development suite.

Performance Objectives 

  • Design and implement strategic learning & development programs with multi-faceted learning strategies to maximize effectiveness. This includes full cycle development from concept to implementation with client consultations, project management, oversight of the development of eLearning modules in Articulate (Rise), participant guides, job aids, etc. and personal creation of content or selection of vendor content, as appropriate. 
  • Lead team members in the design, planning and coordination of learning activities, leveraging their strengths and development interests.
  • Present information in live and virtual training sessions.
  • Use project management, ADDIE and Kirkpatrick methodologies to estimate ROI (with project management function support) and determine measurement plan to determine actual ROI. Leverage data to generate insights for people and program enhancement decisions.    
  • Coach leaders to equip them with the skills and behaviors to lead their teams and optimize results, including coaching on formal development goals and 360 feedback tools.
  • Develop internal employee communications.
  • Related management duties including execution on budget, resource planning, participation in wider strategy development and brainstorming sessions, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned and as programs evolves.

Job Requirements

Experience and Education 

  • Experience - Minimum of six years of relevant and progressive L&D experience and minimum of three years of leadership experience
  • Educational requirements.  The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in HR, Adult Education, Organizational Development or a related field or an equivalent work experience 
  • Business acumen and analytical skills to build outstanding talent solutions.   Strong coaching and facilitation skills.  Strong personal influence and relationship building skills to drive change and collaborate with global team.  High pace and resilience to adapt to growing business needs and expanding priorities.
  • Prior work experience in the insurance industry a strong plus.
  • Learning & development certifications a plus, i.e. Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) or similar.
  • Content delivery certifications with DDI, Insights and/or NeuroLeadership Institute are preferred since these are current content partners. Other certifications welcomed to demonstrate competence and for future consideration. 
  • Must be willing and able to travel out-of-state periodically as business demands for leadership program initiatives and consulting requests.
  • Intermediate proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office Package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word), Articulate or Captivate content authoring packages, creation of collaboration and training content in SharePoint, and communications authoring tools such as MS Publisher and basic graphics required. Advanced level PowerPoint and Excel data analysis skills, i.e. with pivot tables, a plus.  LMS administration experience required.
