Tokio Marine HCC – Casualty Group, a member of Tokio Marine HCC group of companies has an exciting opportunity for a Primary Casualty Underwriting Analyst in our office located in Chicago, IL 



Position Summary:

Under supervision, completes underwriting reviews and analyses for Tokio Marine HCC – Casualty Group. Performs various underwriting tasks to assist in processing and renewing Casualty Group policies and contracts.

Key Responsibilities: 

Relying on limited experience and knowledge, the Casualty Underwriting Analyst is responsible for accomplishing the following assignments. These assignments are varied in nature. 

  • Analyze and report Casualty insurance industry data for local and global market trends.
  • Review, authorize policies and endorsements for new and renewal clients.
  • Assist Underwriters daily in quoting and servicing accounts in an accurate and timely manner, referencing manuals, company policies, published material, etc., as needed.
  • Request additional data determined by Underwriting to facilitate pricing, along with premium and loss information for risk analysis and experience rating, where required, from the appropriate sources (agent, production representative) as directed.
  • Assist in evaluating renewals by collecting updated application information, updated loss and premium data checking exposures, values and rates, etc. as directed by Underwriting.
  • Audit and clear all financial system calculations prior to authorization.
  • Prepare renewals and forwards accordingly.
  • Maintain declined and dead quote files, as directed.
  • Review new setups and binders, checking for accuracy.
  • Assist Underwriter in preparing reports and logs, as required.
  • Communicate and document quotes, agent correspondence, etc.
  • Work directly with Processing and Underwriters.
  • Review premium calculations and policy wording in detail before the authorization process takes place

Job Requirements



Position Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements: 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, a related field, or the equivalent education and/or experience

Experience

  • Minimum of two years of relevant and progressive professional experience

Other

  • Possess and have ability to apply knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
  • Advanced organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Demonstrated knowledge of property and casualty underwriting methodologies and mathematical principles of premium calculations.
  • Knowledgeable of industry changes, legal updates, and technical developments related to applicable area of the Company’s business to proactively respond to changing business environment
  • Advanced proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Overtime hours may be required to fulfill job responsibilities
  • May require travel outside normal work location
