Job Description

Job Purpose:

The main purpose of the role will be to ensure day to day maintenance of all the qualitative elements of the risk management framework, with some quantitative work included.

This role requires significant direct interaction with the business, requiring the candidate to demonstrate strong communication and collaboration skills.


Key Tasks:

  • Independently manage the quarterly risk register review process, dealing with all control owners and demonstrating a good understanding of the control framework.
  • Independently manage the data accuracy monthly process, including proactively investigating any issues arising.
  • Independently manage the near miss and loss register, demonstrating a good understanding of the incidents reported.
  • Conduct independent research of emerging risks and provide suggestions for discussion with the executive management team.
  • Manage the production of the operational risk scenario exhibits independently with moderate oversight from line manager and contribute to meetings with the business to discuss scenarios.
  • Assist Head of Risk with production of ORSA reports for each TMHCC entity.
  • Demonstrate a strong aptitude for both the qualitative and quantitative aspects of this role.
  • Other ad hoc duties.

  • This role involves interaction with all areas of the business and to a senior manager level.



Job Requirements

Skills Required:

  • Two-plus year’s insurance industry experience, within a Risk function. This role has both qualitative and quantitative responsibilities (approximate split 70%/30% respectively).
  • Ability to run the economic capital model to derive financial impacts for operational risks.
  • Educated to degree level and/or relevant professional qualification, e.g. Institute of Risk Management, CII.
  • Strong analytical, written and communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of self-awareness with the ability to act in a professional manner at all times. 
  • Effectively operate in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic.
