We have an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Data Architect in our Corporate Headquarters located in Houston, TX. This individual will be an asset in the Corporate Business Intelligence team and under general supervision, designs, develops, deploys, and manages the data architecture to support business objectives. 

The position carries out responsibilities in the following key areas: 

  • Develop, maintain, and improve architectures, including reference/target architectures, principles, roadmaps, patterns, etc. Also develop an understanding of business processes, data flows, strategy and long term thinking to come up with an end-state architecture
  • Review new projects and architecture solutions, ensuring they are aligned with the enterprise architecture. Provide consultation and recommendations for business capabilities, business process design, business intelligence design, software development design/architecture and application frameworks.
  • Regularly interface with other architects, analysts, developers, and enterprise subject-matter experts to understand and evaluate business capability needs.
  • Apply an understanding of architecture practices to articulate technology options and risk and mitigation strategies to influence decisions and project direction with leadership.
  • Lead and participate in development of prototype solutions to support and prove business and technology concepts and demonstrate in-depth knowledge of a wide variety of technology disciplines.
  • Lead and participate in business and technical design workshops along with creation of technical design documents and supporting materials. 

Expectations:

  • Within the first 30 days, familiarize with TMHCC’s policies and procedures
  • Within the first 45 days develops models and architectural guidelines for current and future system development and data analytic needs to provide technical direction related to the implementation of system architecture by other staff.
  • Within the first 90 days, as an integral part of Enterprise Architecture, fosters effective relationships in Business and IT, contributes to the development of overall architecture practice and strategy, and supports enterprise initiatives.

Job Requirements



Qualifications: 

Experience:

  • Ideally, the successful candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience in professional software development relying on highly available and business-critical technologies
  • Experience in developing integrated solutions involving process, data, and technology
  • Seven or more years of experience with SQL Server 2008-2016 including: Advanced function, stored procedures, and trigger development. In-Depth knowledge of tools used in SQL design and development (Team Foundation Server, SQL Server Management Studio, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS packages).
  • Four or more years of architecting and delivery experience in data warehousing, data lakes, and data analytics.
  • Two or more years of experience with AWS or Azure Cloud Platforms specific to data warehousing technologies (e.g., Redshift, Snowflake, etc.)
  • In-Depth experience with query performance tuning and optimization.
  • Experience with software architectural designs (5-Tier layers, Business Logic, Unit of work, etc.)

Educational requirements:

  • The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field or the equivalent education and/or experience.
