Job Description

The Surety Group, a member of Tokio Marine HCC, is a national provider of Surety Bonds that helps businesses and individuals meet their bonding needs. Our underwriters are adept at handling a variety of bonds, from sole-proprietorships to large publicly-traded corporations. The contract division provides performance, payment and maintenance bonds, with a solution-driven approach that provides the necessary support for both traditional and specialty credit models. The commercial division handles all types of license & permit bonds and miscellaneous surety bond obligations.

We have a position available for a Senior Human Resources Generalist/Recruiter in our Los Angeles, CA office. This position will be a key member of the Human Resources department and will work extremely closely with our hiring managers and senior leaders to build the talent pipeline for the long-term success of the company.  This position will also be responsible for diverse duties to support multiple locations by interacting with all levels of employees and management within the Surety Group locations as well as the Tokio Marine HCC corporate office.

 Key Responsibilities

This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: recruitment/employment, policy administration, employee relations, performance management, onboarding, and employment law compliance.

  • Lead the full-cycle recruiting process including identification of performance requirements, pay rates, solutions to improve quality of hires and reduce time-to-hire, preparation of short- and long-term talent requirements, implementation of talent acquisition metrics.
  • Develop and implement effective screening tools and techniques to build a pool of best-fit candidates. Oversee innovative sourcing strategies to attract talent from non-traditional, emerging, and/or diverse talent pools – social recruiting, college recruiting, expanding geographies, and identifying pools.
  • Expand the onboarding program to build employee/employer satisfaction and retention.
  • Develop partnerships with client leadership and HR staff in order to understand business unit needs, handle general employee relations issues as they arise, guide performance management, and provide effective solutions for other issues as they occur.
  • Actively participate in various special projects including corporate-initiated HR projects.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws related to employment in all areas of HR.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Experience: Ideally, the successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, of which at least 2 years is Talent Acquisition
  • Success characteristics:

    • Ability to handle sensitive and/or confidential material strictly in accordance with company policy and legal requirements

    • Sound analytical skills, as well as strong decision-making and problem-solving aptitude
  • Communications: Must be an exceptional communicator and able to make connections across the organization while working with employees and managers in multiple locations
  • Industry awareness: Knowledgeable about industry changes, legal updates and technical developments related to the applicable area of the Company’s business to proactively respond to a changing business environment
  • Educational requirements. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in HR or a related field or the equivalent education and/or experience 
  • Nice to have:
    • SPHR/PHR or SHRM-CSP/SCP
    • Performance-based Hiring certification
    • Bilingual in Spanish
