We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Hyperion Programmer Analyst in our Corporate Headquarters located in Houston, TX.



Position Summary: 

Under general supervision, the Senior Hyperion Programmer Analyst formulates and defines technical scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to develop or modify complex information systems. Prepare detailed technical specifications from which programs will be written. Design, encode, test, debug, document, and maintain those programs throughout the product life cycle. Resolve system issues and write reports according to user or management requests. 



Key Responsibilities: 

  • Perform as a subject matter expert within the Budget and Planning arena. Thorough understanding of financial use cases in relation to the design and technical implementation within the Hyperion technical environment.
  • Consult with business users to identify current business operating procedures and to clarify program objectives.
  • Develop functional requirements and technical specifications for coding systems or programs including the data sources to be utilized.
  • Develop and create programming logic according to functional and technical specifications within the Hyperion application platform.
  • Perform unit testing to ensure results meet technical specifications.
  • Responsible for automating and enhancing current data reporting and loading processes.
  • Create complex reports to support business users and management requests.
  • Perform complex SQL queries and use database tools to examine table structures, indexes, and other database objects with minimal guidance.
  • Research issues, monitor and maintain integrations/interfaces between Hyperion and interfaced modules.
  • Develop Hyperion Planning (v11) application dimensions and hierarchies
  • Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot data load rules, calc scripts, business rules, WebForms, and reports using ESSCMD and MAXL
  • Develop and maintain automation of data flowing into and out of Hyperion Planning
  • Perform upgrades, proactive tuning, optimization, and monitoring of Hyperion environments
  • Work with infrastructure team in identifying and resolving environment (database, OS, network, security, etc.) issues
  • Collaborate with ERP (PeopleSoft) integration.
  • Supports existing interfaces with current in-house systems.

Job Requirements

Position Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements: 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science or a related field or the equivalent education and/or experience

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience developing and working with the Hyperion Planning (release 11 preferably), Hyperion Essbase (ASO/BSO) applications including development, configuration and server management and Financial Reporting
  • Experience with Hyperion partitioning, scripting, business rules, and integration technologies (ASO/BSO, ODI, FDMEE, and DRM)
  • Experience with WebForms
  • Good knowledge of database concepts (SQL Server, MySQL etc.)
  • Knowledge of database administration, Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and systems analysis procedures.
  • Working knowledge of SmartView for report creation and submission of data into Hyperion
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server querying, data manipulation, and object development
  • Working knowledge of finance and accounting concepts, including financial planning and analysis processes
  • Good knowledge of income statement, balance sheet and cash flow.

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
  • Advanced organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledgeable of industry changes, legal updates and technical developments related to applicable area of the Company’s business to proactively respond to changing business environment
  • Intermediate proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office Package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Hardworking, quick learner with can-do attitude
  • Overtime hours may be required to fulfill job responsibilities
  • May require travel outside normal work location
