Tax Manager - TME in Luxembourg City at Tokio Marine HCC

Job Description

Job Purpose:


  • Tax Compliance for Tokio Marine Europe and its Branches
  • Oversight of Indirect Tax work
  • Reporting to UK Tax Team


Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of the Corporation Tax filings Tokio Marine Europe S.A. (TME)
  • Preparation of Corporation Tax filings for some European Branches
  • Review of Corporation Tax filings of Branches where prepared locally
  • Calculate and arrange payment of installments as necessary
  • Review and reconciliation of Corporation Tax accounts in the General Ledger
  • Write and maintain the procedure manual on Corporate Taxes
  • Calculation of Tax figures for Regulatory Reporting purposes
  • Preparation of Current and Deferred Tax notes for statutory accounts


Oversight of Indirect Tax:

  • Review the VAT return for TME, Luxembourg
  • Review the Premium Tax returns for locally prepared returns
  • Review Balance Sheet reconciliations prepared by Indirect Tax Accountant
  • Assist with any IPT or VAT investigations in TME


Internal Reporting:

  • Analysis of Profit & Loss and Technical Reserves by location for US tax purposes
  • Tax True Up calculations and journal postings
  • Co-ordinate quarterly information requests from UK tax team


Transfer Pricing:

  • Assistance in preparation of Transfer Pricing Report
  • Maintain a list of inter-company trading transactions
  • Confirm agreement to General Ledger
  • Analysis of inter-company management charges
  • Confirm that inter-office cross charges are made in line with the company transfer pricing policy
  • Answering any questions from internal and external consultants



  • Ad hoc project work as required

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience Specification:


  • Degree with minimum 3 years work experience post university
  • Accounting qualification
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and interdependencies with tax
  • Familiarity with tax accounting
  • Language skills: English, French.
  • IT literate with intermediate Excel
  • Good communication skills


  • Insurance Industry experience
  • Alphatax Tax Software experience
  • PeopleSoft General Ledger experience
  • Exposure to premium taxes
  • One other European language, ideally German.
